Side effects

From the nervous system and sensory organs: headache, tremor, dysarthria, dizziness, convulsions, drowsiness, semi-consciousness, confusion of thoughts, disorientation accompanied by memory loss, psychosis with suicidal attempts, change in character, increased irritability, aggressiveness, paresis, hyperreflexia , paresthesia, attacks of clonic convulsions, coma.

From the side of the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): congestive heart failure (at doses of 1000-1500 mg / day), megaloblastic anemia.

Other: an increase in the level of aminotransferases in serum (especially in elderly patients with liver disease), allergic reactions (itching).

Precautionary measures

During the period of treatment, it is necessary to control the level of cycloserine in the blood (at a concentration above 30 mg / ml, manifestations of toxicity are likely), hematological parameters, kidney and liver function. Anticonvulsants or sedatives may be prescribed to prevent symptoms of neurotoxicity (including tremors, seizures, agitation).

Elderly patients on the background of impaired renal function are prescribed lower dosages. During the period of treatment should not drink alcohol.
