This plant can often be seen in meadows, forest edges, among shrubs and forest glades in the middle zone of Russia and almost throughout the territory of Ukraine. Sometimes there is so much of it that a thick coating is formed during flowering.
Chistes forest is a herbaceous perennial 60-120 cm tall, with a not very pleasant smell. Its rhizome is creeping, tuberous, thickened at the ends (by the way, these tubers can be eaten). The lower leaves of the plant are ovate, the rest are oblong-ovate, long-petioled, ridged-serrate at the edges. The flowers are irregular, dark purple or pink-lilac, in false rings. They bloom in June-August. The fruits are nuts, ripening in July-September. On the territory of Russia, in addition to the European part, it also grows in the south of Western and Eastern Siberia.
In medicine, the above-ground part of the plant is used. The grass is collected during flowering, dried under shelter in the shade in the open air. After drying, the raw materials are threshed, removing coarse stems.
The aerial part of the plant contains complex organic compounds, including resins, tannins, vitamin C, organic acids.
Preparations of the forest gorse (and very close to it in terms of properties of the marsh gorse) have pronounced hemostatic properties, lower blood pressure, improve the activity of the heart, and have a calming effect on the central nervous system. Herbal tincture is used for uterine bleeding of various origins, disorders of the menstrual cycle, as well as in the treatment of cardiovascular insufficiency.
The nutritional properties of rhizomes were known to our distant ancestors: they were dried, ground into flour and baked from them. Potatoes can be eaten cooked, like potatoes or asparagus.
Chistets belongs to the list of well-known honey-bearing plants.
Herbal infusion. 1 teaspoon of grass per 200 ml of boiling water, infuse for 15-20 minutes, filter. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day. In the initial stages of hypertensive disease and increased nervous excitability.
Herbal tincture (liquid extract). The grass of the forest purslane is infused in 40% alcohol (vodka) in a ratio of 1:1. Take 30 drops 3-4 times a day.
