Aletris powdery – Herbaceous perennial plant of the Melantiev family.

Description:

Aletris has lanceolate, spreading leaves that form a dense basal rosette. The stem is thin, long, leaves are absent, carries the final raceme of small white flowers. It grows in the forests of the eastern part of the USA.

The roots of this plant contain saponins and bitterness.

Medicinal use:

It is used as a bitter, soothes spasms, as well as a mild sedative. Aletris is used in homeopathy.
