Pharmacy name: lemon peel – Citrifructus cortex (formerly: Cortex Citri fructus).
Botanical description. Small evergreen tree 3-S m in height. Leaves up to 16 cm long, with a slightly winged petiole. The flowers are white, reddish outside. It grows in the subtropics of Europe, in Turkey, Israel, India, California, Florida, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador.
Active ingredients: essential oil, hesperidin and almost 15 various flavone-like glycosides.
Application. Used as an aromatic bitterness to stimulate appetite and improve digestion.
