Perennial liana of the family of yellow-leaved plants. The stem is woody, twisted, up to 10 m long, grassy in the upper part. The leaves are opposite, odd-pinnate, with ovate, at the base – heart-shaped, pinnate, less often – entire lobes. Flowers regular, bisexual, single; perianth simple, with 4 petal-like obtuse, pubescent on both sides, whitish falling leaves 10-13 mm long. The fruit is collective, from numerous achenes. Blooms in June – July.
Spread. The plant occurs among shrubs, on meadows, on rocky slopes in the Crimea and occasionally in Transcarpathia.
Procurement and storage . Herbs (Herba Clematis vitalbae) collected during the flowering period of the plant are used to make medicines. It is prepared in dry, sunny weather. Grassy tops of shoots up to 30 cm long are cut. Dry in the shade outdoors or in a room with good ventilation. 20% of dry raw materials are obtained. Store in a dry place.
The plant is unofficial .
Chemical composition . The herb linosa contains clematine alkaloid, tannins (up to 2.6%), triterpene and steroid saponins, phenolic acids (caffeic, chlorogenic, dihydroxycinnamic), vitamin E, carotene and up to 0.12% essential oil (in flowers).
Pharmacological properties and use. Experimental data testify to the bactericidal and fungicidal properties of the leaves and flowers of the vine. However, neither native forms nor alcohol extracts of the plant show antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Shigella sonnei, Bacillus subtilis. In folk medicine, the plant is known as a diaphoretic, diuretic and hypotensive agent. An infusion of the herb is taken orally for hypertension, migraine, edema of cardiac origin, dropsy, gastric ulcer, inflammation of the bladder, as a remedy against venereal diseases, bone tumors to stimulate appetite. Externally, the infusion of the herb linosa is used to treat scabies and skin diseases of an infectious nature, such as pyoderma, mycosis, infectious fungal cracks in the corners of the mouth, boils, infected wounds, etc. The treatment is carried out by lubricating the affected parts of the body with an infusion of the herb 2-3 times a day (to enhance the therapeutic effect, the infusion is taken orally at the same time as local treatment). In homeopathy, lominis lozyanyi is used in the form of an alcohol extract for malaria, inflammation of the eyes, inflammatory processes of the urinary bladder, malignant rashes on the skin and lichen.
Medicinal forms and applications. Internally – herbal infusion (1 teaspoon of raw material per 500 ml of boiling water, infuse for 1 hour, cool, filter) a quarter of a glass 3 times a day.
Externally – an infusion of the herb (prepared as in the previous prescription) for lubrication of the affected parts of the body.
The fresh plant is poisonous! There is no consensus on dry raw materials. Some authors believe that the toxicity of the plant disappears when dried, but one must be careful.
