An annual plant from the borage family, reaching 20 cm in height. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, sessile, lower – with petioles. The whole plant is covered with stiff hairs. Small blue flowers are collected in long leafy brushes. The fruit is a trihedral nut. Blooms in June-July.
It occurs as a weed within dwellings, along roads, on the outskirts of fields, on fallows, sometimes in crops.
Medicinal raw material is a herb.
In folk medicine, herbal infusion is used for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, salt metabolism disorders, and skin diseases.
Application
A 10% vodka infusion is applied externally to treat baldness.
