SESAME INDIAN
Annual herbaceous plant 60-100 cm tall, sesame family. The leaves are opposite or alternate in the upper part, elliptical, whitish-pink, 20-30 mm long. The fruits are numerous hairy capsules containing ovoid, flat, light yellow or dark seeds. Flowering in June-July, fruiting in August-September.
Cultivated in the south of Russia.
The seeds of the plant contain up to 60% fatty oil, which includes glycerides of oleic, linoleic, palmitic, stearic, arachidic and lignoceric acids. In addition, phytosterol, alcohol, sesamin, sesamone, sesamolin and vitamin E are included.
pharmacological properties. Sesame oil increases the number of platelets in the blood (factor T), thereby accelerating blood clotting.
Sesame oil is used for thrombopenic purpura, essential thrombopenia, hemorrhagic diathesis, and also to replace olive and almond oils in the manufacture of ointments, liniments, plasters, oil emulsions and injection solutions.
Application
Sesame oil is prescribed inside for adults, 1 tbsp. spoon, and children – 1 teaspoon 3 times every day before meals.
