Botanical description. Small trees or shrubs with alternate leaves and fruits, the seeds of which resemble those of the castor bean. Homeland – tropical Asia; cultivated in West Africa.
Active ingredients: resinous toxic substances (in particular, phorbol ether), which act as a powerful laxative. According to the latest data, they are carcinogenic.
Application. Previously, croton oil was used as a powerful laxative, but is not currently used.
