The larkspur is reticulate – dolphin sitchastopl_dny. (preparation and storage)

Ukrainian name is dolphin sіtchastoplіdniy.

The buttercup family is Ranunculaceae.

The reticulate larkspur is found in the wild in the Dzungarian Alatau, Tarbagatai, and Southern Altai. Grows in the mountains at an altitude of 1500-3000 m in the forest and mountain steppe belts. In Ukraine, it is currently cultivated on the state farms of Soyuzlekarsprom.

It is a perennial herbaceous plant 60-100 cm high. The stem is straight, ribbed, usually glabrous. The leaves are alternate, with a heart-shaped base, palmately dissected into 5-7 rhombic lobes, glabrous or below along the veins and along the edge of the leaf blade with sparse hairs. The inflorescence is a simple or dense multi-flowered raceme at the bottom. Flowers irregular, on thin stalks rejected (no green calyx); within the flower bed is simple, five-membered, corolla, blue or dark blue; the upper leaflet within the flower bed passes into a hollow spur, the rest of the leaflets are obtuse. There are many stamens, some of them are sterile, turning into staminodes, which look like small leaves, colored in the same way as the leaves within the flower bed, or a little lighter. 1-2 nectaries have the same color. The fruit consists of 3 multi-seeded leaflets up to 1 cm long. Seeds smooth, almost trihedral, narrowly winged along the ribs. Flowering in June-August, fruiting in August-September. The plant is poisonous.

Raw materials are harvested in the budding phase and the beginning of flowering (late July – early August), cutting off the upper parts with flowers at a height of 15-20 cm. Dry under canopies with good ventilation, laying out a thin layer (5-7 cm) and stirring occasionally. It can be dried in dryers at a temperature of 50-60 °. The end of drying is determined by the fragility of the stems. Dried raw materials are cut before use.

According to FS 42-315-72, the raw material consists of grass (stems, leaves, flowers, buds) up to 70 cm long or plant parts. Leaves 50-30 cm long, 6-20 cm wide, greenish-brown. The flowers in the inflorescence are blue-violet. There is no smell. Taste is not determined (poisonous). Humidity is not higher than 14%.

Not more than (percent) is allowed in raw materials: total ash – 10, crushed parts (sieve with a hole diameter of 1 mm) – 10, stems – 55, organic (parts of other plants) and mineral impurities – 1. The herb should contain no methyllicaconitin alkaloids less than 0.3%.

Packed in bags of 12-15 and bales of 50 kg. Stored in a group of potent raw materials in closed, well-ventilated areas in a packaged form on undercarriages or racks. Storage period up to 2 years.

The grass contains alkaloids. In larkspur, the main alkaloid is methyllicaconitin (up to 0.65%), from which the product mellictin, which has a curare-like effect, was obtained. He is poisonous . Store according to the “A” list.
