GENTAGE ROUGH

 

Perennial herbaceous plant with a powerful root system and a rounded rough stem. The leaves are ovate, the flowers are blue, sessile in the axils of the upper leaves.

Distributed in Eastern Siberia and the Far East. Grows in wet hummocky meadows, among shrubs, in grassy swamps.

Medicinal raw materials are rhizomes, less often grass.

Rhizomes and roots contain from 2 to 7% gentiopicrin glycosides, gentiamin alkaloid, pectin substances, liquid oil, ascorbic acid. The chemical composition is similar to yellow gentian.

Rhizome preparations are used in the form of a powder, extract, tincture for digestive disorders.

 

In folk medicine, along with the root, the herb is also used as an appetizing and antimalarial agent.

Application

Decoction of herb with root: 20 g per 200 ml or 1 part herb per 10 parts boiling water, take 1-Z. spoons 3 times a day.

Or a teaspoon of crushed roots in a glass of water, boil for 10 minutes and take 1/2 cup 3 times every day 30 minutes before meals.
