GLEDICHIA ORDINARY (three-thorned)

 

A large tree 25-40 m high from the legume family. The bark of the trunk and branches is dark brown, smooth. The trunk and branches are dotted with strong, sharp, dark brown, shiny spines, up to 20 cm long. The leaves are simple, with paired pinnate oval leaves, serrated at the edges. The flowers are yellow-green, collected in a cluster-shaped brush. The fruit is a flat, multiple, dark brown pod up to 40 cm long.

The plant is cultivated in the southern regions of Russia. Medicinal raw materials are mature fruits, young leaves and bark of a thin, not thicker than a finger, root dug up in winter.

The fruits and leaves of honey locust in the form of an infusion or decoction are drunk in small doses for spasms of the gastrointestinal tract, chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, chronic inflammation of the gallbladder, spastic intestinal colitis, colic and other diseases.

 

Root bark tincture is drunk in chronic polyarthritis.

Application

Infusion or decoction: 1 tbsp. a spoonful of crushed fruits insist 2 hours (leaves – 1 hour) in a glass of boiling water, drink 1-2 tbsp. spoons during meals 3-4 times every day.

30% vodka tincture of the root bark is drunk 1 tbsp. spoon 3-4 times every day 10 minutes before meals.
