Carnation deltopodіbna – carnation deltoid

Deltoid carnation (Dianthus deltoides); herbaceous carnation; Carnation family (Caryophyllaceae); clove deltoid

Like chicory, this plant closes its flowers in the evening and on cloudy days. But in the sun, the eyes are so fond of the scattering of its bright flowers.

The deltoid carnation is a rhizomatous herbaceous annual 25-45 cm tall. The rhizome of the plant is thin, creeping, forming turf from flowering and infertile shoots. The stems are ascending, with short rough pubescence. The color of the stem and leaves is bluish or green. The leaves are opposite, rough-hairy from the edges and on the middle vein, the lower ones are oblong-lanceolate, the upper ones are linear. The flowers are regular, bisexual, usually single (rarely 2-3), five-petalled, red, crimson, sometimes almost white, with red spots, serrated at the edges. The plant blooms in June-July, and sometimes later. The fruit is a box. Grows throughout the territory of Ukraine. Most often it occurs in meadows, meadows, slopes, forest edges and forest glades, in mixed forests.

Cloves are used only in folk medicine. For medicinal purposes, the aerial part is collected, cutting it off during the flowering of the plant.

The herb contains saponins, coumarins, flavonoids, ascorbic acid and traces of alkaloids.

Infusions of clove grass show hemostatic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Most often, folk doctors use them for uterine and hemorrhoidal bleeding. It is believed that clove products stimulate the smooth muscles of the uterus and increase its tone, without causing side effects. They have no local irritant effect and are not toxic. In addition, herbal infusions and poultices are used for rheumatism and allergic manifestations.

Herbal infusion. 1 tablespoon of raw material per 200 ml of boiling water. Keep it in a boiling water bath for 10-15 minutes, then filter it, bring it to the original volume with warm boiled water. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.

Poultices from grass. 100 g of chopped dried clove grass is divided into portions of 3-4 tablespoons, scalded with boiling water. The resulting gruel is wrapped in gauze, applied to the sore spot and kept until it cools. The procedure is repeated several times a day.
