Chemical composition. Veronica fake contains a small amount of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins and other substances.

pharmacological properties. Conducted at the Department of Pharmacology of the Troitsk Veterinary Institute, studies have shown that tinctures and the amount of flavonoids of Veronica fake are low toxic. When they were administered intravenously to cats and dogs, an increase in blood pressure was noted, accompanied by an increase in the pulse wave, an increase and deepening of breathing. Veronica preparations have a tonic effect on cardiac activity, increasing the amplitude and slowing down the pace.

After 1-2-fold giving to rabbits and dogs inside the infusion at a dose of 0.2 g / kg for 2-3 days, an increase in the voltage of the R wave, a decrease in the systolic index, an increase in the interval R – R and T – P were noted on the electrocardiogram. phenomena is associated with the stimulating effect of products on the chole- and adrenoreactive structures.

Aqueous extracts of fake veronica enhance the contractile function of the intestines and uterus of rabbits in situ, increasing tone, increasing diuresis and the amount of secreted gastric juice. At the same time, the bioelectric activity of the stomach increases and the proteolytic activity of enzymes increases.

With 1-2-fold oral administration of infusion 1:10 at a dose of 0.1 g/kg to healthy cows and animals with signs of hypotension of the proventriculus, the force of contraction of the scar and the number of its movements per unit time increase. An aqueous infusion of Veronica helps to remove mucous secretions by the respiratory organs, increases appetite, stimulates the activity of various glands and has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiseptic, antitoxic and wound healing effects.

Application. In folk veterinary medicine, veronica is prescribed orally for colds, pulmonary tuberculosis, asthma and diseases of the genitourinary organs, as a sedative and heart remedy, externally for baths for skin diseases, acne, rashes, suppuration and scabies. An infusion of Veronica at a dose of 0.1 g/kg is recommended for a broad clinical trial as a cardiotonic (increasing cardiac activity), diuretic and gastric secretion stimulant, and flavonoids (5-10 mg/kg) – only as cardiotonic. Grass and infusion are prescribed at the rate of 0.1 g of dry grass per 1 kg of body weight 2-3 times every day for 7-10 days.
