Botanical description. A small bushy herbaceous perennial with leaves twice deeply palmately dissected and a flower shoot bearing a single white or pink flower. In the wild state, it is found in forests on the Atlantic coast of North America.
Active ingredients: alkaloids (hydrastine, berberine and others), phytosterol, resin, essential oil.
Application. Hydrastis rhizome in the form of galenic products is used for uterine bleeding. In homeopathy, its healing properties are used for chronic catarrhs, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, skin diseases and diseases of the glands.
