Focal tachycardia from the atrioventricular junction
Focal tachycardia from the atrioventricular junction is an atrial tachycardia associated with abnormal automatic or oscillatory activity in the atria. The source (center) of ectopic activity is located in the trunk of the Hayes bundle or in the area of the connection of the trunk with the atrioventricular node. Unlike the regular rhythmic paroxysmal atrioventricular tachycardia caused by the re-entry mechanism, the frequency of focal paroxysmal tachycardia from the atrioventricular junction sometimes changes by the minute, with fluctuations in babies from 220 to 320 per minute, in adults 110-150 per minute. Etiology
-
- Myocarditis
- Cardiomyopathy
- Cardiac surgery, especially manipulations in the area of the interventricular septum.
Clinical picture, treatment – see Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.
ECG identification
-
- Onset is gradual, with shortening of the RR interval
- RR intervals are inconsistent
- QRS no more than 0.1 s
- Heart rate 110-150 per minute.
