Indications for use:
Treatment of dry or weeping “diaper” dermatitis with infection with Candidaspp. (parasitic yeast-like fungus).
Pharmachologic effect:
Combined product, the action of which is due to the properties of its constituent components. Miconazole is an imidazole derivative with activity against most pathogenic (pathogenic) fungi and yeasts, as well as against some strains of gram-positive bacilli and cocci. The drug is effective against a number of fungi: Candidaspp., As-pergillus spp., Dimorphousfungi, Cryptococcus neoformans, Pittyrosporumspp., Torulopsisglabra. The action of the product is due to its ability to inhibit the biosynthesis (formation in the body) of ergosterol, leading to the death of fungal cells. Zinc oxide, which is part of the product, has moderate astringent properties and creates a protective barrier on the affected area of the skin, protecting it from possible damage. With “diaper” dermatitis (skin inflammation in infants with insufficiently frequent diaper changes), the hydrophobic (fat) base of the ointment, together with zinc oxide, creates effective protection against the irritating and corrosive effects of urine and feces. When used topically, the product does not penetrate into the blood plasma.
Dactorin (Daktotsin) method of administration and doses:
The drug is applied to the entire affected area, previously washed and dried. The drug is not rubbed into the skin. Treatment is continued until the symptoms of inflammation disappear completely.
The use of the product does not preclude the use of conventional methods for the prevention and treatment of “diaper” dermatitis. Regular diaper changes and the use of highly absorbent materials are of great importance. Avoid contact of the product with eyes. Do not apply the product to open wounds and do not use simultaneously with other ointments or medicines.
Dactorin (Dactocin) contraindications:
Allergic contact dermatitis (allergic inflammation of the skin at the site of contact with an allergic substance) to miconazole nitrate and other components of the product.
Dactorin (Daktotsin) side effects:
Extremely infrequently – local allergic reactions.
