Perennial herbaceous plant 30-60 cm tall. Stems are 4-sided, branched in the upper part, ending in an inflorescence. The leaves are opposite, ovate-triangular, heart-shaped at the base, large (6-10 cm long). The flowers are two-lipped, numerous, dark crimson. The fruit is a dark brown nutlet (up to 1.5 mm in diameter). Blooms in May-July.
It grows in forests, up to the middle mountain belt of the Caucasus. In the North Caucasus, 9 species of chistets grow. In the medicinal business, forest cleaner is used. Found everywhere.
Medicinal raw material is a herb. The raw material contains betaine bases (stachydrine, betanycin, turicine, trigonelin).
Alcohol tincture, extract, infusion and hydrochloride salt of stahidrine have a hemostatic effect in uterine bleeding in the postpartum period and in inflammatory diseases of the female genital area. Tincture reduces blood pressure, has a positive inotropic effect on the heart, with heart neuroses. These products are superior in their activity to motherwort products, improve heart function, and calm the central nervous system. They are prescribed for hysteria, fainting, epilepsy, from wounds, gout, liver diseases, skin diseases.
In folk medicine, the annual herb is used, which is quite common in the North Caucasus.
Application
Extract: 25%; 20 drops 3 times every day before meals.
Infusion: 1 teaspoon of herbs for 2 cups of boiling water insist in a closed vessel and drink 1 tbsp. spoon 3 times every day.
