Cystoseira bearded

 

Brown seaweed, widespread on the Black Sea coast, mainly in small rocky places.

Thallus highly branched, shrub, standing in the water, up to 1 m tall, the central part is thick, within 0.5 cm in diameter, brown-green in color, attached by a disk-shaped part to underwater rocks.

Dry thallus contains within 40% alginic acid polysaccharide, within 3% mannitol, 0.6% bromine and 0.089% iodine.
