An annual herbaceous, woolly-hairy plant of the family of the sedum family. Flowering stems 3-10 cm tall, single-flowered. The leaves are pinnately divided, collected in a basal rosette. The flowers are bisexual, actinomorphic, 5-petalled, light yellow. The fruit is an achene. Blooms in March – April.

Spread. It grows in forest-steppe and steppe areas, less often – in forest areas and in the Crimea, on steppes, steppe slopes, elevated open places and meadows.

Raw material . Fresh grass or plant juice is used.

The plant is unofficial .

Chemical composition. The plant contains the alkaloid anemonine.

Pharmacological properties and use . The wound-healing properties of Burdock root products for boils, ulcers, pyoderma, etc. have been experimentally proven. Their use helps to clean wounds from pus, accelerates the resolution of inflammatory swellings, tissue granulation and epithelization. In folk medicine, R. I. used as an external remedy for eczema and other skin diseases.

Medicinal forms and applications.

Externally — fresh or canned juice with 20% alcohol to lubricate the affected areas;

fresh crushed plant for application to affected areas. The plant is poisonous when fresh.
