What does it look like? A perennial herbaceous plant up to 20 cm tall, with a rosette of basal leaves of oval or ovate-oval shape, strongly wrinkled, wavy at the edges, notched-toothed, gradually narrowing into a winged petiole. From the middle of the rosette grows one or more leafless flower-bearing stems with yellow fragrant flowers gathered at the top in a drooping umbrella. Their corolla is tubular with a slight bend and with 5 orange spots in the throat. The rhizome is very short, vertical, with a bunch of thin roots. Blooms in April – June.

Where does it grow? In meadows, among shrubs, in forest glades, in thinned forests, on slopes, on roadsides, in forest and forest-steppe areas, less often in the northeastern regions of the Steppe (in Kharkiv region, Kupyan district, near Monachynivka).

What and when are collected? Plant with flowers – during flowering (quick drying), roots – in autumn or spring.

When is it used? Fresh leaves are used as a food product to prepare delicious salads for spring hypo- and vitamin C and A deficiency.

Used in the form of tea. Take 1 tablespoon of leaves and flowers for 1 cup of boiling water and infuse for 10 minutes. They drink 1-2 glasses a day, in sips, with fever, colds, associated with diseases of the throat and lungs; for rinsing the nose with a runny nose; with insomnia; headache (migraine), increased nervous excitement, rapid heartbeat (sedative and antispasmodic effect of volatile oil, flavonoids contained in flowers), saponins, in particular primula acid, volemitol, bitterness, tannins, primulaverine and primverine glycosides); for gout, rheumatism and to purify the blood for boils, ulcers and rashes on the body (effect of vitamin C, saponins and salicylic acid ester). Napar (decoction) from the roots of primrosedue to the content of saponins, silicic acid acts as a good expectorant for dry cough and bronchitis. Take 1 tablespoon of crushed roots for 1 glass of boiling water and drink half a glass three or two times a day (pneumonia, asthma, whooping cough)
