Pharmacy name: cinchona bark – Chinae calisayae cortex (formerly: Cortex Chinae calisayae).

Botanical description. Usually it is a tall evergreen tree, although in mountainous areas it can take on a shrub form, with ocher-yellow or light brown bark, with a dense, densely leafy crown. Grows in Brazil, Ecuador, Peru.

Active ingredients: quinine, related alkaloids, bitterness, resins and a number of other substances.

Application. At present, it is not often used, only as an integral part of some gastric fees.
