Pharmacy name: spicy sumac rhizome bark – Rhois aromaticae radicis cortex (formerly: Cortex Rhois Radicis aromaticae).
Botanical description. Shrub 1-2 m in height, with regular trifoliate leaves up to 10 cm in length. The flowers are small, yellowish-green, collected in false spikes. The fruits are spherical drupes, yellowish-red, pubescent. Grows in North America (Atlantic coast).
Active ingredients: tannins, resins, essential oil and a number of other substances.
Application. It has a calming effect on the bladder and helps with bedwetting. Thanks to tannins, it is used for gastrointestinal disorders.
