Perennial herbaceous spore plant with a thick rhizome and hard aromatic leaves. Spores ripen in July – the first half of August.

Rare for Western, but quite common in Central (Sayan), Eastern Siberia and the Far East. Found on rocks and rocky slopes.

The chemical composition has not been studied. Contains coumarin for flavor.

Among the population of Transbaikalia – a popular remedy for headaches. In pairs, plants treat diseases of the ears (hold the head above the pairs). Used in Tibetan medicine. It is used for tinctures and as a substitute for tea.
