China meadow

Perennial herbaceous plant with a thin branched root and a simple, slightly branched, ascending or climbing stem up to 100 cm long. The flowers are yellow, similar to acacia flowers, with large ovate-lanceolate stipules. Leaves with antennae and one pair of lanceolate leaflets. Blooms from June to August.

Distributed throughout the European part of Russia and the Caucasus. Grows in meadows, shrubs, on the edges of mixed forests.

Medicinal raw material is the above-ground part, collected during flowering. As a medicinal product, meadow rank is used mainly in folk medicine, although it is not denied by scientific, which believes that large doses of rank cause nervous disorders with paraplegia of the lower extremities, the usual doses of harmful side effects do not call.

The raw material contains ascorbic acid (up to 800 mg%), traces of alkaloids, saponins, bitter substances, etc.

This plant is valuable as a pleasant-tasting and fairly effective expectorant. A decoction of the herb is used for acute and chronic bronchitis, abscess and pneumonia, thrombophlebitis, liver diseases, insomnia, gastrointestinal diseases, heart pain.

Application

Light decoction: 1/10 or 1/15 of a teaspoon of chopped herbs in a glass of boiling water; use 1 tbsp. spoon after 2-3 hours.

Herbal infusion: 0.6-0.8 g per 200 ml of boiling water, 1 tbsp. spoon after 2-3 hours – an effective expectorant. The infusion is drunk as an antidiarrheal and heart remedy.
