A perennial herbaceous plant of the family of sedum. It has a thick multi-headed creeping rhizome with a large number of cord-shaped roots. Stems are erect, simple, 100-150 cm tall, slightly furrowed. Stem leaves are alternate, petiolate or almost sessile (upper, twice or three times tripartite, below with hairs; leaf lobes ovate, pointed, pinnately cut, large-toothed at the edge. Flowers regular, unisexual, often dioecious, with double perianth; sepals (5 of them) petal-shaped , creamy-white, early falling; nectary petals are forked and bipartite, shorter than the sepals. The fruit is a collective leaf. It blooms in July – August.

Spread. Daurian tsymitsifuga grows in dry valley meadows, among shrubs, in meadows and on the edges of deciduous forests in the Primorsky and Khabarovsk regions.

Procurement and storage . The rhizome with roots (Rhizoma cum radicibus Cimicifugae dahuricae) is used to make medicines. Harvesting of raw materials is carried out in autumn. Young plants should not be harvested. Re-harvesting of raw materials on the same site is allowed no earlier than after 7-8 years. Excavated rhizomes and roots are shaken off the ground, quickly washed and dried in a warm, well-ventilated room. Artificial drying is carried out at a temperature of 40-45°. The shelf life is 2 years. Pharmacies do not release raw materials.

Chemical composition . The rhizomes and roots of cimitsifuga contain triterpene glycosides, saponins, phytosterol, organic acids (salicylic, isoferulic), resinous and tannic substances, and other compounds.

Pharmacological properties and use . Cimitsifuga tincture has a calming effect on the central nervous system, lowers blood pressure, improves cardiac activity (increases the amplitude of heart contractions without changing the rhythm), increases diuresis, and relaxes the muscles of the intestines. Indications for prescribing cimitsifuga tincture are hypertension of the 1st and 2nd stages, articular rheumatism, asthma, white fever (as a sedative). There are no side effects on the body when using tincture of cimitsifuga.

Medicinal forms and applications .

Internally – tincture (prepared on 70% alcohol in a ratio of 1:5) 50 drops 2-3 times a day (course of treatment 30-40 days).
