An extremely beautiful primrose. The Russian name “shooting” probably comes from its peculiarity: in the spring, when there is no green at all, the shoots of the plant “shoot”, as if piercing a layer of last year’s grass, leaves and dry pine needles with an awl. Sleep looks very beautiful on dry hills. The single, large, six-petalled blue-purple flowers of this perennial plant are slightly drooping at first, then straightened, on an erect leafless, hairy peduncle 10-20 (up to 40) cm tall, surrounded by small hairy leaves. Large leaves – in a basal rosette, petioled, pubescent at the beginning of flowering, then bare. It blooms open at the end of April — at the beginning of May, in dry pine and mixed forests, more often on the heights, sunny slopes, on sandy soils in the European part of Russia,
The plant is used only in folk medicine. The above-ground part of the plant is collected during flowering and dried, spread out in a thin layer on paper or cloth, under shelter. In bad weather, the grass is dried in a well-ventilated room. Ready raw materials are used no earlier than 3-5 months after harvesting.
The aerial part of the plant contains glycosides, saponins and traces of coumarins; flowers contain anthocyanin pigments.
Folk healers use the opened dream in the form of an infusion as a sedative in case of increased excitability. The plant also helps with neuralgia of various etiologies, hysteria, insomnia (isn’t that where the name comes from?) and menstrual cycle disorders. The infusion is also used as an antispasmodic agent for diseases of the respiratory tract, especially for chronic bronchitis and bronchial asthma. The use of sleep products is useful for heart failure and tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), hepatic and renal colic.
Externally, the infusion of the herb in the form of lotions and baths is used to treat mycosis and other skin diseases, as well as to wash wounds and sores. Homeopaths treat joint rheumatism and some gynecological diseases with sleep products.
Contraindicated use of infusion internally in inflammatory diseases of the liver and kidneys, gastrointestinal tract. It is necessary to remember that the dream opened, like many sedums, is a poisonous plant, and an overdose of its products is dangerous.
Herbal infusion. 1-2 teaspoons of raw materials per 200 ml of cold boiled water, infuse for 12 hours, filter. Take 1/4 cup 2-3 times a day.
